After more than five decades serving Greeley, Cables Pub & Grill will close at the end of this month, and the business will undergo a rebrand under new ownership. The restaurant, located at 1923 59th Ave., announced the changes in a post on social media this week.
The eatery will reopen under a new name: Big City Roadhouse. Cleta and Don Yamauchi, who recently bought the business, will change most of the menu items, but keep the same style of cuisine, they told What Now Denver. There will be one or two burrito options from their other business, Big City Burrito.
Cables has been a Greeley fixture since 1972. The restaurant expanded over the years to also have locations in Fort Morgan, Fort Collins, and Estes Park, but only the Fort Morgan one is still open. That one will remain in operation.
The Yamauchi family also owns Big City Burrito in Fort Collins and Loveland. They acquired those businesses last year, the Fort Collins Chamber of Commerce announced. Don has an extensive culinary background working as a chef on the East Coast, and he and Cleta previously opened a Mexican restaurant in Florida.
