According to recent reporting in The Business Journal, a local Latin chain will soon undergo a significant expansion.
Zaza Cuban Comfort Food plans to nearly double its footprint in Central Florida, with plans to open seven new restaurants in the area.
Citing Zaza co-founder Ruben Perez, The Business Journal reports that one of the new locations will be at 1621 S. Orange Ave. which was the former address of Brick & Fire Pizza.
Perez stated to the Journal that he “expects to attract business from the hospital employees in SoDo, and this restaurant will become the flagship for the brand when it opens early next year.”
“I’ve always wanted to be there, but all that construction has been going on for years. It was a mess,” Perez said. “We looked at it, I think seven years ago, but it’s all done now and there’s a lot of development going on out there.”
In addition to this upcoming spot, Perez stated that another Zaza location will open inside Orlando International Airport’s north terminal in the Southwest Airlines wing early next year.
Perez said the other Zaza restaurant locations will be revealed later next year, adding that he would like to grow on the west side of town, such as in Windermere, Winter Garden and Hunters Creek.
“I admire [KFC’s] Colonel Sanders and his approach back in the day. He always talked about how you start from the center and grow out; it’s geographically growing from the center out.”
No opening dates have been announced.
