The Torrance location of pizza chain Shakey’s Pizza Parlor was closed temporarily on August 26. The County of Los Angeles Public Health took the step following a vermin infestation at the pizzeria. Inspectors also noted additional violations at the establishment.

However, the County of Los Angeles Public Health ordered the temporary closure of the L.A. County-based outlet this Tuesday.

Inspection Findings

The floors, walls, and ceilings of the Torrance location of Shakey’s Pizza Parlor were dirty and in poor condition. Employees failed to follow personal hygiene requirements. They were observed handling food without wearing hair restraints.

The establishment did not have adequate handwashing facilities as required by the county. Shakey’s Pizza Parlor violated the county’s requirements regarding the presence of rodents, insects, birds, or animals in eateries.

The inspection report cited unclean and poorly maintained nonfood-contact surfaces. During the inspection, the equipment/utensils at Shakey’s Pizza Parlor were not in good repair.
