Fava Pot Planning Tysons Comeback

The Egyptian restaurant should be open before the year’s end.

A familiar face is preparing to return to Tysons with several years of experience and a RAMMY award under its belt. Fava Pot began feeding area residents as a food truck in 2013 and soon the concept will be making its triumphant return as a brick-and-mortar, reports local media outlet FFXNow.

The restaurant is taking over the space at 1624 Boro Place occupied by Tasty Kabob since 2020. Tasty Kabob will shutter its operations on September 19 and Fava Pot will begin moving in the following day. Tysons foodies have reason to be optimistic about enjoying Fava Pot’s cuisine before the year is out; owner Dina Daniel is projecting a pre-Thanksgiving soft opening, and a full, official launch around a month later. The restaurateur is looking forward to the full-circle moment, saying: “After all of these years, I’m going back to the same area.… It is a sense of accomplish[ment] and blessing.”

Fava Pot will be serving up Egyptian street food in a space that can accommodate up to 50 customers inside with room outside for 35 patrons who wish to enjoy their meals al fresco. The restaurant will be offering half-off drinks-including alcoholic options, tea, and coffee-during daily happy hours, lasting from 3 to 6 pm.

Fava Pot has earned considerable acclaim and praise since its opening-and for good reason. The concept not only serves incredible food but also strives to serve the community and the greater good. The website explains: “From the beginning, we kept our eyes on the prize, serving the best of healthy, home-style Egyptian cuisine in an atmosphere that would make our customers feel like they were amongst family. Our motto has always been Eat Healthy for a Good Cause — through every purchase you make, we give back to Egyptian orphans in need.”

Fava Pot currently has two storefronts open-one in Falls Church, the other in Dupont Circle-and a food truck. The menu offers a wide range of dishes, including breakfast options, soups, salads, mezze starters, sandwiches, and dinner platters and bowls.
