The image of fast-casual dining has undergone a bit of a glow-up in the last few years. No longer relegated to simply a quick, greasy dinner on the go, the cuisine now draws in health-conscious diners looking for everything from vegetarian to organic fare, served swiftly but deliciously. A Massachusetts-based fast casual chain that is part of this new era of concepts is making strides towards entering the Alexandria market. Life Alive Organic Cafe has filed a special use permit for a new location in Old Town, reports local media outlet ALXNow.

The paperwork filed for Life Alive’s prospective 400 King Street location provides some insight as to what the brand has in mind for the storefront. The application states that the eatery will occupy 3,066 square feet, with seating for up to 97 customers. The form also explains how, precisely, the concept functions; guests enter their order into a station, take a number and a seat, and their order is delivered to their table.

If all approvals are attained and everything goes according to plan, Life Alive Organic Cafe will be open from 7 am to 9 pm daily. As the concept is still in the process of receiving all the necessary permits and approvals, it is too early to estimate an opening timeline.

Life Alive offers a healthy alternative to fast-casual diners hoping for a nutritious option. The brand describes itself rather succinctly on its special use permit application, saying “Life Alive Cafe is a fast-casual restaurant concept offering fresh, organic breakfast, lunch, and dinner for take out and dine in…We serve smoothies, coffee drinks, salads, grain bowls, and sandwiches.”
