Zak’s Diner, a local chain known for its all-day breakfast and retro-inspired comfort food, is getting ready to open a new location at Ottawa International Airport at 1000 Airport Parkway Private.

The new outpost will move into the space across from Starbucks, which recently reopened earlier this year, replacing the long-standing D’Arcy McGee’s Irish Pub, according to the Ottawa Business Journal. Although an exact opening date has not been announced, the diner is expected to begin construction following the demolition of the pub. Customers can expect Zak’s signature diner-style menu, including breakfast served all day, burgers, poutine, and milkshakes.

Zak’s has been serving Ottawa since 1986, with several locations across the city, including ByWard Market, Elgin Street, Westboro, Kanata, and Carleton Place. The airport addition comes as part of a broader revitalization around the terminal, which recently saw the opening of the new LRT Line 4 spur connecting to the city’s light rail network.

The airport location marks the sixth for Zak’s, further cementing the brand’s status as a go-to for locals and travelers alike. The expansion also aligns with Zak’s ongoing approach of placing owner-operators at each location to maintain service consistency and local involvement.

Known for its wide-ranging menu, Zak’s Diner serves up classic diner fare, including blue-plate breakfasts, French toast, omelets, burgers, nachos, and quesadillas. Vegetarian and plant-based options are also available, and the diner offers several types of milkshakes, including vegan and boozy variations.

The concept’s long-standing presence in Ottawa has made it a community staple, and its introduction at the airport is expected to provide both convenience and familiarity for passengers. According to Zak’s, the brand continues to prioritize locally sourced ingredients and sustainability initiatives as it expands its footprint.
