Künstler Brewing, a San Antonio-based brewery, has announced it will permanently close on October 19. The popular spot, which has been serving the community for nearly three years, cited ongoing nearby construction as the reason for its closure.
Künstler Brewing Bids Farewell After Nearly Three Years
Located at 302 E. LaChapelle, San Antonio, Künstler Brewing offered a cozy tavern vibe, complete with an outdoor beer garden and a dedicated sports room. The restaurant was known to brew multiple styles like traditional German beers, hop-forward IPAs, and Belgian-style ales.
The brewery confirmed in a social media post that it will pour its last pint on October 19.
“We opened our doors full of sunshine, steins, and big dreams… and two weeks later, the bulldozers rolled in. Three years of fences, tractor-trailers, and dust later, we’ve decided it’s time to call it. Turns out it’s hard to compete with a never-ending construction zone (especially when you show up for work and realize the sidewalk’s disappeared),” the post read.
Künstler Brewing recalled how major Hemisfair events often left the brewery fenced off, making it difficult for guests to reach the space.
“During so many of Hemisfair’s big events — the very moments that could have made up for the front of our building being closed — we found ourselves fenced off from both sides. Beer ready, lights on, doors open… but no way for guests to reach us. We hung in there as long as we could, poured our hearts out (and a lot of Kölsch), but it’s time to close this chapter,” the post said.
The brewery’s final weekend kicks off October 17, including San Antonio Beer Fest pre- and post-parties on October 18.
Künstler Brewing to Focus on Making the Original Brewery Better
Following the closure of its Tap Haus, Künstler Brewing plans to pour all its energy into improving its original brewery and deepening community ties. The brewery emphasized that it isn’t seeking a second location, but rather aims to make its original home the best it can be.
“But here’s what’s next: we’re turning our focus fully back to our first home — making Künstler Brewing even better, even more connected, and even more us. We’ve always tried to listen and grow with our community, and that’s where our energy belongs. We’re not looking for a second location — we’re looking to make the one we have the best it can be,” the post read.
The brewery expressed its gratitude towards the staff and its loyal customers.
“Thank you for every visit, every laugh, every beer you shared with us through it all. You made this place beautiful, even when the view was of fences and tractor trailers — and getting here felt like a treasure hunt (at your own risk),” the post said.
