The locally owned and operated Pinot and Provisions will permanently close its 227 Rutledge Ave. location on October 31. The closure follows a temporary shutdown earlier this year, when the shop had hoped to reopen in September.
Led by Madelyn and Aaron Rowland, the couple met while working in the hotel industry. They share a passion for Southern hospitality, food and, of course, wine. The couple has a dog named Pinot, the namesake of the shop, according to its website.
“We were so excited to re-open in a renewed capacity of a market, bottle shop, and wine bar. Unfortunately, due to some changes in ownership, we can no longer justify our time in this space. We are extremely confident there will be a P&P V2 on the horizon, so be sure to follow along!” The Rowlands shared via Instagram.
Madelyn told What Now Charleston although no new location has been secured, they are actively searching.
“We are looking around the city. We’d love to stay downtown. We’re just looking for somewhere that we can purchase with short term rentals if possible, so we’re keeping our ears and our eyes open and seeing what we can find,” she said.
Pinot and Provisions is known for its curated wine selection, including Old World and New World reds, whites, rosés, orange wines and dessert wines. The shop also offered craft beer and nonalcoholic beverages. Inside the market, shoppers could find Jack Ruby Co. cocktail mixers, Barcoop Berry mixes, artisanal cheeses, Krackers and gift items. The cooler stocked Antico Cassa frozen pizza, Callie’s Hot Little Biscuits and Jeni’s ice cream.
