St. Augustine’s Mojo’s Tacos is planning on an expansion.
The Mexican restaurant is seeking to open an additional 80-seat restaurant at the corner of US1 and Watson Road, according to the St. John’s Citizen.Â
The Sta Local confirmed the news on Instagram, adding that plans for the restaurant are still under review. The restaurant, including on-site parking, would take up 4,500 square feet, according to a permit application filed with St. Johns County, but no opening date is set.
This will be the third Mojo’s Tacos for owner Joseph Devlin, who owns the flagship location at 551 Anastasia Boulevard in St. Augustine, along with Mojo’s Tacos – Mainland at 926 Santa Maria Boulevard.
The taco shop is bet known for its double-decker tacos. The tacos that start with both a soft shell and a hard shell stuck together with melted cheddar cheese. The tacos are then filled with a choice of mahi, shrimp, ground Certified Angus beef, slow-roasted chicken, or organic tempeh before being topped with leaf lettuce, fresh pico de gallo, and the restaurant’s signature Mojo sauce a house made mild hot sauce).
The restaurant also offers vegan options including plant-based “meat” tacos, avocado tacos, and tempeh tacos. Mojo’s also offers bowls, burritos, nachos, arepas, salads, and more.
