Memphis foodies struggling through the ennui of autumn and winter’s cooler weather and shorter days have a new reason to be excited for the spring. A new concept called Ahi Asian Bistro is bringing sushi and Chinese and Japanese fare to the Lakeland Town Square next year when the weather turns warmer, reports Commercial Appeal.
The latest concept from Lin Chen, who previously owned and operated Ahi Sushi Grill & Seafood, will be moving into a 2,900 square foot storefront located at 9789 Market Green Place South. According to a commercial alteration permit issued by the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development, the restaurant will have an occupant load of 109.
There is not yet a precise date available for when Ahi Asian Bistro will be prepared to greet customers, however the establishment is on track for a spring of 2026 opening.
Chen and his family are Lakeland locals themselves and look forward to feeding their community. Real estate agent Tony Cai of eXp Realty facilitated the deal, and says of the Chens: “They want to stay and raise their family in Lakeland and being in the restaurant industry is something they are good at. They want to keep the tradition going.”
While Ahi Asian Bistro is an entity in its own right, it will be similar in nature to Ahi Sushi Grill & Seafood, offering plenty of Chinese and Japanese favorites for customers to choose from. Guests will be able to enjoy their meals in house or take them to-go.
