A Mediterranean-inspired bagel and coffee cafe is expanding with two new locations in Seattle’s Pioneer Square and Capitol Hill neighborhoods.
TOASTED., founded by University of Washington graduates Jaafar Altameemi and Murat Akyuz, plans to open its fourth location at 101 Yesler Way in November and a fifth in the SOLIS building at 13th and Pike next year, according to an Instagram video shared by realtor Ryan McGhie.
The Pioneer Square location will operate as a small, take-out cafe, while the Capitol Hill outpost will span 2,444 square feet and offer both dine-in and take-out options.
“When we first opened TOASTED., we were just two first-generation kids with an idea—to bring the flavors of home to the city that gave us one. What started as one small shop by the University of Washington has now grown into multiple locations across Seattle and Bellevue, but our heart is still the same,” the cafe’s website reads
The duo runs three locations in the University District, South Lake Union and Bellevue. As immigrants, Murat from Istanbul and Jaafar from Iraq said their families taught them food isn’t just food; it’s a way to build community.
TOASTED.’s menu blends Mediterranean flavors with creative bagel sandwiches. Offerings include the Za’atar Turkey with smoked turkey, tomatoes, cucumbers, arugula and labneh; the vegetarian Smoked ’Cado with mashed avocado, pickled onions and smoked feta; and the slightly spicy Sultan’s Roast Beef with provolone, crispy onions, caramelized jalapeños, tomato, arugula and sweet BBQ sauce. Customers can mix and match four open-face sandwiches with the OF Flight.
The cafe offers a range of coffee and espresso drinks, including a Spanish latte, lavender honey latte and cardamom honey latte, alongside mochas, macchiatos and chias. Its tea selection features blends such as moringa mint, elderberry hibiscus, jasmine and cream of Earl Grey.
TOASTED. emphasizes community partnerships, working with nonprofits like the UW Pantry to donate bagels and supporting youth programs. According to their website, they have donated more than 12,400 bagels to date.
While the official opening dates for both locations haven’t been announced, customers can check the cafe’s website and follow its Instagram for updates.
