A unique local restaurant has officially changed hands. Local hospitality group Teranga Group, the team behind Teranga City in Brookhaven, completed the purchase of R. Thomas Deluxe Grill last week, according to reporting by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. As of now, the new ownership team is planning only small cosmetic changes to the space at 1812 Peachtree Rd NE.
The local spot, which has been part of the community for more than three decades, is known for its unique flair, featuring tropical birds on site. The menu offers a wide range of dishes, from seafood and burgers to salads and gluten-free options. They also serve beverages such as freshly squeezed juices and yerba mate lattes.
The Teranga Group is also behind Teranga City, which opened in April in Brookhaven. It also owns a location in Charlotte. The menu there includes items like wings, lamb skewers, red snapper, Afro oxtail soup, Cajun Jollof pasta, calamari, lobster and lamb chops. For beverages, it offers a cocktail list and a bottle service, as well as late-night hookah.
R. Thomas Deluxe Grill is known for its late-night hours, remaining open from 7 a.m. to 5 a.m. from Wednesday through Saturday. As of now, it appears no major changes are in store for the longstanding Atlanta restaurant.
The AJC reported that Teranga Group might expand the concept to Charlotte.
