Parakeet Cafe, a San Diego-based health-conscious cafe concept, is getting ready to open a new location in Sorrento Valley at 9808 Scranton Road.

The company’s new location is set to move into the former home of Lean and Green Cafe Sorrento Valley, located on the ground floor of Enclave Sorrento, a modern office technology campus in Sorrento Mesa, according to a recent filing with the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality. Although an exact opening date has not yet been announced, the city application is still under review. Customers can expect Parakeet Cafe’s signature focus on wholesome, organic, and locally sourced ingredients, including breakfast bowls, toasts, sandwiches, salads, poke bowls, and wellness drinks.

Founded by Carol and Jonathan Goldwasser, Parakeet Cafe offers a diverse range of dietary options, including vegan, vegetarian, paleo, keto, and gluten-free choices. The cafe was inspired by the Goldwassers’ personal journey toward healing through food, following their daughter’s diagnosis with a rare illness, and emphasizes real, nourishing ingredients free of seed oils. Signature menu items include the Healthiest Waffle, Parakeet Bowl, and a rotating selection of coffee and adaptogenic lattes.

The beverage program features ethically sourced coffee, house-made syrups, herbal teas, kombucha, and wellness lattes made with mushrooms and adaptogens. All drinks are prepared with sustainable beans, alternative milks, and organic ingredients, aligning with the cafe’s focus on both flavor and nutrition.

Parakeet Cafe currently operates multiple locations in Southern California, including Beverly Hills, Newport Beach, and several throughout San Diego, such as Little Italy, La Jolla, Del Mar, Coronado, and the Nautilus Cafe. The Sorrento Valley site will be the brand’s ninth location in the San Diego area and will continue Parakeet Cafe’s mission of creating community through food and beverages, providing a space for neighbors, coworkers, and food lovers to gather over a meal or a cup of coffee.
