A new restaurant is set to open in Seattle’s Ravenna neighborhood.
Mama Grande’s Cafe, owned by Alex Garcia, will open at 2300 NE 65th St., taking over the former Ravenna Varsity restaurant space, according to an Instagram post.
Ravenna Varsity closed on August 3 after 62 years in business after failing to reach a lease agreement, Vanishing Seattle reported.
“While it breaks our hearts to see the Varsity shut its doors, what we will miss the most is the customers that have become like members of our family. It still doesn’t feel real that we won’t see our beloved regulars that we hold dear in our hearts. We will miss all of you more than you know. The doors may shut, but the connections and community we built will last a lifetime,” the former owners said.
Now, just over three months after its closure, the space is ready to be brought back to life.
Little is known about Mama Grande’s Cafe so far, but its tagline hints at a warm, homemade touch: “Where every meal is made with love.”
What Now Seattle reached out to the team, however, they have not yet responded. This article may be updated.
