A Spanish neo-bistro and wine bar called Mar Bella Boqueria is slated to open later this winter inside the Clayton Hotel & Members Club in Cherry Creek  — 233 Clayton St. — Westword reports. Buzz is growing among locals who are anxious to try the concept, driven by a well-known hospitality couple.

Johnny and Kasie Curiel, from Fonda Fina Hospitality, are expanding their acclaimed Colorado restaurant portfolio with this latest venture. Their restaurants Alma Fonda Fina, Mezcaleria Alma, and Cozobi Fonda Fina have been recognized with Michelin Star and Bib Gourmand honors. They also opened Alteño earlier this year.

Mar Bella Boqueria’s menu will center on seafood and Spanish traditions, featuring tapas, housemade conservas, pâtés and terrines, plus a program focused on dry-aged fish. A jamoneria counter will highlight hand-carved Jamón Ibérico and Serrano, complemented by boards of cured meats and cheeses. The drink list leans Spanish, and a gin-and-tonic cart will add a playful touch.

Mar Bella Boqueria will replace Bar Amorina, which opened earlier this year under Culinary Creative Group. A PR representative told What Now Denver the team isn’t “ready to share hard details on the timeline,” but it will open in the next few months.
