A space for children to play while the adults grab coffee is being built in Hartland.
Little Owls Play Cafe is a new concept for families that will be opening in late January. It is set up for parents to work and socialize at the cafe while their children are being supervised and doing activities. An address has not been released, but it is currently in the construction phase.
According to the description on their Facebook page, the space will feature “a cozy cafe with coffee + local treats.” In a recent post, loaded teas are also being prepared for the cafe. The menu for drinks and treats has not been released.
Prior to the opening, owner Amber Strong has been participating in Hartland community events, including the Trunk-or-Treat Halloween celebration. Recently, the business was hiring for a barista position, along with play attendant, child watch play instructor and character performer. Staff are organizing indoor play zones, STEM and sensory play, playhouses and a baby area.
In a recent social media update, Strong said construction and the lease signing were supposed to happen as of Nov. 2. The delay was due to the government shutdown, but now that it is reopened, she has moved the opening estimate from March to late January.
