Industrial Manufacturing Facility to Shut Down, 71 Jobs Impacted in Michigan

Trystar will permanently close its Troy, Michigan, facility later this year, impacting employees as the company transfers its operations.

Trystar has filed a WARN notice signaling upcoming job cuts tied to a facility closure. The company has announced the closure of its facility, leading to 71 job cuts. The separations and closure are expected to be completed by this year’s end.

Trystar to Close Troy Facility

According to the WARN notice filed with the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, Trystar is closing a facility in Oakland. The facility is located at 1955 Stephenson Highway in Troy.

The company is relocating operations from the site. The filing does not include a reason for the move or identify a new location. Layoffs are scheduled between September 4, 2026, and December 31, 2026. Trystar has also provided a list of impacted job titles due to the closure.

Company Background

Founded in 1991, Trystar is a U.S.-based provider of electrical power infrastructure and backup power solutions. Its solutions support mission-critical sectors including data centers, healthcare, telecommunications, and construction.

Trystar develops products including switchgear, transfer switches, load banks, power distribution equipment, energy storage solutions, and monitoring. Headquartered in Faribault, Minnesota, Trystar has several manufacturing and engineering plants.

In recent years, Trystar has expanded through acquisitions to strengthen its engineering, monitoring, and electrical infrastructure services. In 2025, the company acquired Asentria Corporation to expand its remote monitoring and controls business.

Trystar acquired Island Technical Installations (ITI) this year, bringing in its skills and knowledge in low and medium-voltage switchgear, mobile substations, testing, and field services.

In addition, Trystar was honored with an “Honorable Mention” in the Vision Awards for 2025, a testament to the industry’s appreciation for its innovation and operational expansion.
