The Sacramento County Environmental Management Department conducted strict inspections across restaurants on November 18. Health officials cited violations at King Palace and My Tho Vietnamese Cuisine. Both restaurants received a yellow placard following the inspection.
King Palace

- Where: 5829 Stockton Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95824, United States
- When: November 18, 2025
King Palace offers Chinese dishes, including King Jellyfish Cold Platter, Wonton Soup, Salt & Pepper Fillet Fish, and Shrimp Dumplings.
The violations documented in the report are as mentioned below:
- A plate of cooked Yao Choi was found at the rice noodle prep station when the inspectors arrived.
- One bus bin of chicken feet and another of pork cutlets showed direct contamination due to heavy ice condensation. The report stated that this was due to leakage from the evaporation unit in the King Palace’s walk-in freezer.
- Two expired employees’ food handler cards were found at the Sacramento facility.
- An employee’s tea drink was left on the beverage station’s counter at the Chinese eatery.
- An excessive black mold growth was noted on the plastic components of the ice machine.
- Several broken plastic bus bins were being used to store food at King Palace.
- According to the report, several containers of uncovered food were found in the 2-door upright freezer.
- Many uncovered bins of food were seen in the walk-in freezer of the Sacramento facility.
- A pre-packaged turkey item was stored over a vanilla ice cream box inside King Palace’s chest freezer.
- A squeeze bottle with a blue chemical solution on the floor under the kitchen’s 3-compartment sink lacked a label. The report added that spray bottles with chemical solution on the floor under the beverage station’s 3-compartment sink lacked labels.
- Heavy oil residue was observed on the storage rack next to the ice machine at the Chinese food facility. The report also mentioned dusty fan guards, multiple cobwebs, and old food accumulation in different areas of King Palace.
- Expired sanitizer test strips and a lack of sanitizer in the sanitation bucket were added to the report.
- A leakage was found in the 3-compartment sink faucet inside the Sacramento eatery’s kitchen. Plus, multi-use wiping towels were stored on the counter throughout King Palace’s kitchen area.
- The report stated that there was no air gap for the ice machine drain line.
- A water leak was noted by the health inspectors at the hot water knob in the Chinese facility’s beverage prep/service area.
- According to the report, the restroom doors were propped open at King Palace.

- The wall near the kitchen’s 3-compartment prep sink was found to be damaged. The report added that the ceiling wall paint was peeling above the hot water heater in the hot water room.
- Several broken floor tiles were found in the main cook line at King Palace. As per the report, there were also many missing floor tiles under the stove and BBQ oven.
- A shellfish tank in the Sacramento facility was holding live fish, clams, and crabs without a HACCP plan. The report added that King Palace’s water tank with the water filtration system was installed without Plan Review’s approval.

My Tho Vietnamese Cuisine

- Where: 6175 Stockton Blvd, Suite 270, Sacramento, CA 95824, United States
- When: November 18, 2025
My Tho Vietnamese Cuisine serves dishes such as Bun Rieu, My Tho Hu Tieu, and Sweet and Sour Shrimp Soup.
The violations mentioned in the report are as follows:
- A bowl of cooked shrimp tacos measured 71°F on the counter, according to the report. The report added that other PHFs, including sliced tomatoes, bean sprouts, and cooked rice, were at the wrong temperatures.
- An empty toilet paper dispenser was found inside My Tho Vietnamese Cuisine’s men’s restroom.
- Rolls of toilet paper were kept on top of the toilet water tank, the report said.
- Expired operator’s food manager certificate and employee’s food handler cards were found at the Sacramento eatery.
- An accumulation of black slime was observed on the white baffle inside the ice machine of My Tho Vietnamese Cuisine.
- As per the report, 40 old rodent droppings were spotted in a separate, isolated storage room at the Sacramento facility. The droppings were seen on the floors and separate shelves of My Tho Vietnamese Cuisine as well.

- Sliced raw beef was stored above cooked beef with a plastic wrap kept between them.
- The report stated that open food containers were observed inside the reach-in coolers, walk-in freezer, and walk-in cooler of the Sacramento eatery.
- An open bulk bag of MSG was found inside the side storage room of the Vietnamese facility.
- Raw shell eggs were kept on top of shredded onions, and raw ground meat was kept on top of cooked noodles inside the walk-in cooler of My Tho Vietnamese Cuisine.
- The inspection report showed that the Sacramento eatery stored bags of onions on the floor behind the front register.
- Pots of soup were stored on the floor inside the eatery’s walk-in freezer, the report mentioned.
- Old food and heavy grease accumulation were observed in different areas of My Tho Vietnamese Cuisine, including old racks and side walls by the main cook line.
- A heavy ice buildup was seen under the condenser of the 2-door upright freezer.
- A plastic grocery bag with ink printing was being used at the Vietnamese spot for storing food inside the walk-in freezer.
- Raw wood shelves were observed inside the side storage room of My Tho Vietnamese Cuisine. The report added that tongs were stored on the oven handle in the facility’s kitchen. Rice scoops were repeatedly left in 76°F standing water by the rice cooker.
- Chopsticks were stored inside the chopstick holder with the eating portions in a mixed manner at the Sacramento eatery. Single-use spoons were kept inside the utensil holder of the water boiler, the report added.
- A heavy grease accumulation was observed in the hood filters of My Tho Vietnamese Cuisine.
- The inspection report highlighted that a fluorescent light fixture above the main cook line of the Vietnamese spot lacked a shatterproof guard.
- A wiping towel at My Tho Vietnamese Cuisine measured at 0PPM QA/CL, the report said.
- An employee’s cell phone was stored on the food plate above the 2-door reach-in cooler by the main cook line of the Sacramento facility.
- The inspection report stated that a deteriorated cove base was seen behind the side storage room door. A part of the wall at the top edge of the kitchen prep sink had separated from the wall of My Tho Vietnamese Cuisine.
- A damaged ceiling tile that connected the water heater’s exhaust hose was observed at the rear of the Vietnamese facility.
- The inspection noted that My Tho Vietnamese Cuisine’s posted health permit had expired.

Follow-Up Inspection

The inspection report of King Palace states that a reinspection will take place at the Chinese eatery within 24 to 72 hours. If the violations are fully adopted by then, it may be offered a green placard.
