Avi Singh and David Muhs have multiple concepts in the works in Hell’s Kitchen. After opening Same Same Wine Bar in the former Monkey Thief space in October, the team now has plans for a relocated Monkey Thief and a new pizza bar in Hell’s Kitchen. However, they are adding one more concept to the mix — the team is taking over the ’Ritas space at 756 Ninth Avenue, according to community board filings.
As of now, it appears that the team plans to keep the Mexican restaurant largely the same, listing the same name on the community board application. ’Ritas was from the ownership team behind B Side Pizza Bar and A Side Pizza & Pasta Bar, both of which are also being taken over by Singh and Muhs to build out their concepts in Hell’s Kitchen.
Menu items include nachos, tacos, enchiladas and desserts such as churros and dulce de leche.
Plans include 12 tables that will seat 29 and one bar that will seat 13. The proposed hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, with hours extended to 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Efforts to reach the ownership team prior to publication were unsuccessful. However, W42ST recently reported that the team plans to take over a cluster of spots on West 51st Street in January. Presumably, ’Ritas is one of these locations. It is unclear if any construction is planned for the space.
