A new Southern-style bakery will add fresh-baked flair to downtown Charleston when it opens this winter.
Annie Mae’s Bakeshop, owned by Annie and Jason Vieira, began as a micro bread bakery supplying restaurants across Charleston. Now, the couple is opening a storefront, a pretty-in-pink space at 185 Saint Philip Street, according to the bakery’s website.
“Annie Mae’s serves as a reminder to press pause and savor the simple, beautiful moments of the day. A pie on the windowsill, a cake on the kitchen counter, a hot mug of tea and your favorite book: these are the moments we aim to create,” the website reads.

The menu leans into classic comforts, from buttermilk biscuits and pastries to pies and slices of coconut, chocolate cherry matcha, carrot cream cheese and strawberry lemon almond cake.
For drinks, the shop will offer a pastry-driven coffee program with specialty lattes such as banoffee, vanilla date, raspberry pistachio, and carrot cake. The menu will also feature hand-blended teas, including jasmine pearl green, peppermint lavender and a hibiscus-rooibos mint.
The shop has yet to announce a firm opening date, but its Instagram bio reads, “Opening Dec. ’25.” Check its website and follow along on social media for updates.
What Now Charleston reached out to the Annie Mae’s Bakeshop team, however, they have not yet responded. This article may be updated.
