Mondelēz Global LLC is voluntarily recalling a specific version of its RITZ Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches in select U.S. states. The recall comes after the company discovered that some packages may contain undeclared peanuts.

Why the Recall Matters

As a step of caution, Mondelēz International initiated a voluntary recall of RITZ Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches on November 28, 2025. The recall was prompted by incorrect labeling: packages of the Peanut Butter variety were labeled as Cheese. This mislabeling could pose a serious risk for anyone with a peanut allergy.

The FDA also issued the notice for public awareness on December 2, 2025, and fortunately, no reports of illness or injury have been received so far.

What the Product Includes

Mondelēz Global LLC has recalled 70 cases of the below-mentioned specific product sold in eight U.S. states: New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Alabama.

Outer cartons have correct labeling, while the inner individual packets do not declare the presence of peanuts. While the product is labeled as a Cheese variety, the actual RITZ Cheese Cracker Sandwiches are safe to consume. No other product by Mondelēz or RITZ is affected or included in this recall.

Symptoms of Peanut Allergy

Peanut allergy symptoms can appear within minutes of exposure and are often mild to moderate. The most common types of reactions are hives, itching, lip or face swelling, stomach pain, nausea, or vomiting. Others might also complain of tingling in the mouth or throat, nasal stuffiness, and coughing soon after eating or touching peanut products.

More severe effects could be difficulty in breathing, wheezing, a rapid decrease in blood pressure, dizziness, or loss of consciousness. These symptoms may lead to anaphylaxis, a potentially fatal allergic reaction that will need urgent treatment. Therefore, the company and the FDA have advised people to be more cautious.

What Happens Next

Consumers allergic to peanuts are advised to closely inspect their pantry to identify the affected product of RITZ and follow recall instructions. This notice does not include any other Mondelēz items, and the recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the FDA. Consumers can contact the company at 1-844-366-1171 Monday–Friday, 9 am to 6 pm ET.
