Organic sourdough bakery, deli, and coffee shop Rye Goods is expanding its Laguna Beach location and taking over the neighboring suite. The business has filed plans showing its intent to renovate and enlarge the space — 384 Forest Avenue, Suite 5, county records reveal.

Stu News Laguna reports the Laguna Beach Planning Commission unanimously approved the project this week. Rye Goods was seeking permission to add 847 square feet to its location after the neighboring tenant, Tibet Handicrafts, closes. The expansion will create additional indoor seating opportunities, retail displays, and dry-goods storage. Currently, the site is about 1,100 square feet.

Rye Goods was founded in 2016 in a garage by pastry chef Sara Lezama. Since then, the bakery has grown into a woman-owned, locally focused enterprise with three Orange County locations, including Lido Newport and Tustin.

The bakery is known for its sourdough breads, pastries, specialty coffee, and natural wines. It emphasizes organic, seasonal ingredients sourced from local farms, and has a mission to provide wholesome, healthy options for the community.
