Daddy D’z BBQ Joynt, a longtime BBQ icon of Atlanta, shared the heartbreaking news of its closure after almost 35 years of service. The restaurant will serve its final meal on December 31, 2025. The team explained that the closure follows the sale of the building; however, the restaurant team is seeking a new location to continue operations.

After Three Decades, Atlanta’s Daddy D’z BBQ Joynt is Closing

Located in the heart of Southeast Atlanta, Daddy D’z BBQ Joynt has been a cult favorite since its inception. The spot is known for its rustic juke joint style and classic barbecue. It has long taken pride in serving some of the city’s best flavors, with simple yet satisfying plates.

The eatery is well known for barbecue pork sandwiches, Brunswick stew, pulled chicken, and smoked turkey. For locals and visitors, Daddy D’z BBQ Joynt offers a relaxed and comfortable hangout spot with spicy BBQ flavors.

Christianah Coker-Jackson, the current owner of the BBQ joint, shared that the restaurant is preparing to close its doors after Christmas and will serve its final dinner on New Year’s Eve. The owner highlighted that the restaurant had become a go-to place because of its delicious food, including brisket and Que wraps.

To support its staff through the holiday season, the restaurant owner requested the community to join them before it shuts its doors permanently. The news of the closure saddened many of its loyal patrons and customers.

Building Sale Forces Closure of Daddy D’z BBQ Joynt

Daddy D’z BBQ Joynt is closing down, as the owner of the building at 264 Memorial Drive has sold it during the lockdown, according to a report by Channel 2 Action News.

The owner of the restaurant has said that the team is actively seeking a new location to move to. “We want to remain part of Atlanta’s history,” Coker-Jackson emphasised.

Daddy D’z BBQ Joynt is not just a restaurant; it is a beloved spot of Atlanta where barbecue lovers come together to celebrate food. As the restaurant prepares to close its Memorial Drive location, the cherished memories and connections built over the decades will continue to live on.
