Ariete Hospitality Group, the Miami-based culinary force behind culinary destinations like Michelin-starred Ariete and Chug’s Diner has been up to big things in South Florida this year, with the openings of restaurants like Chuggie’s, Drinking Pig BBQ, and Mae’s Room. Now, Ariete has plans for a new restaurant in Downtown Jacksonville.
The site in question is the Back of America tower at 50 N Laura Street. The Jaxson reported earlier this year that construction was set to begin there on a new Starbucks location, after which work would begin on the space at the corner of Laura Street and Forsyth Street, which the new Ariete restaurant would call home.
Though no name has yet been released for the concept, The Jaxson describes it as a “new diner and full-service bar,” and says it will be similar Ariete’s Chug’s Diner concept.
Located in Coconut Grove, Chug’s Diner is headed up by Chef Michael Beltran, who, says the Chug’s Diner website, “has explained Chug’s Diner the same way since it was born: If an American Diner and a Cuban cafeteria had a baby, it would be Chug’s.”
The menu features breakfast choices, croquetas, Lunch and Dinner handhelds like the Frita Patty Melt (rye bread, Swiss, caramelized onions, papitas, 1000 Island), and entrees like Plantain Crusted Snapper and Pollo a la Milanesa. Details on the menu planned for Downtown Jacksonville are not yet available.
