NoMa Mexican food fanatics have a fresh reason to rejoice. Alero, a beloved DC staple celebrated for its authentic Mexican cuisine, is getting closer to opening its newest location, coming soon near Union Market, reports local media outlet PoPville.

Alero’s newest home will be located at 202 Florida Avenue, NW. Signage is up, suggesting that delicious Mexican food is just around the corner. Paperwork filed with the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration provides a few salient details regarding the upcoming location; Alero will be able to accommodate up to 114 guests inside and will have a summer garden with space for another 20. Additionally, the restaurant will have a sidewalk cafe able to seat 20 patrons.

While visible progress has been made on Alero’s new home, an opening date is not yet available. What Now DC has reached out to ownership and will update readers as details become available.

Alero has been feeding satisfied DC foodies for the past 28 years. The website explains the secret to the concept’s longevity, saying: “From the zesty crunch of tacos to the cheesy indulgence of enchiladas and the deep-fried delight of chimichangas, our menu celebrates the bold flavors of Tex-Mex cuisine. With sauces made from the freshest local ingredients and a fusion of spices, our dishes deliver a culinary experience that bridges the vibrant traditions of Texas and Mexico.”
