After a fire in 2020 forced Gendusa’s Italian Eatery to move down a block to its current location, the Kenner restaurant is preparing to move across town and out of the picturesque Rivertown district. The move will take the popular Italian spot from a cozy cottage to the former Messina’s, a much larger restaurant space capable of handling large parties. The current location will close in mid-January, and an opening date for the new location has not been announced. What Now New Orleans has reached out for more information.

Owner Troy Gendusa recently told NOLA.com that he’s regularly had to turn away large parties or manage long wait times at the current location. The restaurant has built a large following with its pizza, pound-sized meatballs, Italian sausage, and cannoli.
