Back in November, the PARC Group, the master developer of eTown, announced that Jacksonville’s own Mechanism Coffee Roasters is planning to open a new location there. It’s the second coffee shop for Mechanism, which is located at 11526 Lake Mead Ave., Suite 103 in Jacksonville.
Owned by Michael and Sarah Bigney, Mechanism is going a little bigger for its eTown location. The new cafe will feature a similar capacity inside, with about 20 seats, but will also boast a capacious outdoor patio with seating for about 30 more guests, Sarah Bigney told What Now on Friday.
“We’re looking to open sometime in the spring,” Bigney said. “The drinks menu will be the same [as at the current location], but the food menu will be a bit different.”
Asked if there are any revelations to make yet about the new menu, Bigney said it’s all still under wraps for now. What we do know is that it will feature both grab-and-go style offerings and made-to-order dishes, along with baked goods made in-house.
“We opened in October 2023, and it’s been great. We love it. We love what we do, and we have an incredible team and incredible community.”
“The new eTown location will offer the full espresso and specialty coffee menu guests know and love — including rotating seasonal favorites — alongside house-made baked goods, pastries, and a light brunch menu,” said the announcement made last November. “The offering will be a relaxed, simplified version of the café’s original full brunch lineup, designed to serve both busy weekday mornings and slow weekend starts.”
And what brings Mechanism Coffee Roasters to eTown? What Now asked.
“We love eTown,” Bigney said. “We have a lot of regulars in that neighborhood, and we’re excited to be part of the growth that’s going on there.”
