Home to local businesses like Aj’s Seafood, the building on the southeast corner of Arlington Road North and Alton Avenue in Jacksonville will soon welcome a new Ethiopian restaurant into the mix. Called Asli Cafe & Restaurant, this new spot will open in Suite 1 at 21 Arlington Rd N, according to plan review paperwork submitted by Asli Cafe & Restaurant Inc.
What Now confirmed news of the opening on Thursday with owner Girmay Woldu.
“It’s going to show our culture, the best of our culture,” Woldu said. “That’s going to make it special.”
Expect to find the stewed lentils, beans, vegetables, and meats characteristic of Ethiopian cuisine, paired with the always-popular injera, a fine, spongy fermented bread made with teff flour. Woldu says Asli Cafe & Restaurant will also offer coffee and tea.
Opening in the Arlington Road location, Asli will provide a slower (and healthier) option, joining nearby faster restaurants like Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen and Checkers.
Keep an eye out for Asli Cafe & Restaurant opening soon at Arlington Road North and Alton Avenue!
