Late last year, Cliff’s announced it was closing down its location in Eliot and searching for a new location to call home. The search is over, as Cliff’s is preparing to reopen on 2934 NE Alberta St., according to a liquor license permit.
Owned by Josh and Sierra Luebke, Cliff’s had operated out 128 NE Russel St. since 2019, where they weathered the punishing effects that the pandemic had on small businesses, especially restaurants and bars. They built a community of regulars and served early and lingering guests of Wonder Ballroom in the space above the bar.
In an Instagram post in October 2025, the couple announced that the landlord, who owns Wonder Ballroom, decided not to renew their lease. They closed at the end of 2025, sending off their old space with a rager.
“Creating this safe inclusive space and being part of this amazing community and neighborhood has been a life long dream realized for Josh and I,” Sierra Luebke wrote of the closing in their Instagram announcement. The couple now sets off to create a new community, hopefully not from scratch.
Cliff’s new space in the Alberta Arts District was formerly home to Assembly Brewing’s Pizza Annex. According to their website, the bar is set to reopen in spring 2026.
