Last May, What Now reported on plans for Potbelly Sandwich Works, the growing sandwich chain, to proceed with Northeast Florida expansion plans, bringing the chain to a new location 9908 Baymeadows Rd in Jacksonville. That location now appears to be approaching an opening.
“Signing indicates they’re hiring now,” said a post published on January 25 in the Facebook group Jacksonville Fun, Eats & Drinks.
“I cannot wait,” says one comment. “I’m homesick for Chicago hardcore and this will help me…”
Now, plan review paperwork submitted by Gold and Green Management LLC, the franchisee behind the Baymeadows location, indicates that another Potbelly is already in the works in the area. Plans show a new Potbelly launching at 13529 Beach Blvd, Suite 101.
There, Potbelly would be part of the Hodges Station business center, joining restaurants like Just Kitchen Jax, Jersey Mike’s Subs, Tijuana Flats, and more.
Potbelly’s beloved sandwiches include the Mediterranean (All-natural grilled chicken, feta, zesty hummus, artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, cucumbers), the BLTA (Applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, fresh-sliced avocado), and Mama’s Meatball (Homestyle beef + pork meatballs smothered in marinara sauce, provolone, Italian seasoning).
“From the comforting, melty cheese of a toasted sandwich made with love, to classic photos of Jimi Hendrix shredding a guitar solo at Woodstock, Potbelly is just a fun place to be,” says the About Us page on the Potbelly website. “We’re a first-class dive. A place to take a break from it all. Sure we make the best toasted sandwiches in all the galaxies (sorry aliens, but it’s true). But we serve them up with a smile. That’s easy when you love what you do: Making people really happy with craveable food, from our toasty sandwiches, soups, salads, fresh-baked cookies and hand-scooped milkshakes.”
