Panama Bar Cafe to Culminate 40 Years of Journey
Founded in the mid-1980s, Panama Bar Cafe became a gathering spot for casual meals, drinks, and live entertainment. In Downtown Chico, the bar’s unpretentious vibe made it a favorite among students, professionals, and longtime locals.
The menu included a combination of pub-style and comfort food. Its unique concept of 31 flavor teas and 31 burgers made it stand out from other establishments. In the course of the years, Panama Bar Cafe has hosted live music and events as well, which have enhanced its status as a nightlife staple of the area.
As the bar prepares to close, its owners reflect on decades of serving Chico and building lasting relationships with staff, musicians, and longtime patrons.
