SMASH, a pickleball and restaurant concept, is coming to Lafayette, opening on 2905 Kaliste Saloom Road.
First reported by Developing Lafayette, this will be SMASH’s second location; it’s first location in Youngsville hasn’t even opened yet. SMASH in Lafayette will feature a full-service restaurant, rooftop bar and pickleball amenities.
The pickleball-restaurant eatertainment concept was devised by Aaron Dulin, founder of Fat Pat’s Grill and Bar. Though a menu hasn’t been launched on the site, promotional photos of the Youngsville location show hearty bar food and bright, fruity cocktails.
The space that the forthcoming Lafayette SMASH will move into formerly housed Lafayette Heath Club, which closed in 2012 following the owner’s bankruptcy filing. The property was purchased by Chase Group Construction, led by Chase Landry, in a $1.5 million deal. Chase Group Construction also developed a number of Dulin’s Fat Pat’s.
Redevelopment of the space will include 10-14 courts with an additional playground area for families. Plans also include a 6,500 square-foot rooftop space for bar and restaurant seating.
Construction on the project is expected to take 12 months. In the meantime, Lafayette residents can brush up on their pickleball skills at SMASH’s upcoming location in Youngsville, set to open in six weeks.
