A family owned ice cream shop with roots in Detroit’s West Village neighborhood has scooped up a new location.
A recent social media post from Trademarks Management and Construction showcased a new Sedo’s Ice Cream location under construction in Milford. This is coming to the city’s downtown, 120 E Liberty. Owner Samantha Stork told What Now Detroit she is hoping to open the doors sometime in May.
In September last year, the owners announced they had to shut down as the lease could not be renewed. They took the opportunity to thank the staff for all their hard work. The owners made clear they would still offer catering services and eventually open a new location.
“Though this chapter is closing, our story is far from over,” said the post.
Stork said she is updating the menu for the Milford shop with some new additions, offering 32 flavors rather than 16. In West Village, they displayed many different flavors like mint chocolate chip, strawberry cheesecake and old fashioned vanilla. The shop also sold sundaes.
Right now, major work is being done on the interior including framing and drywall. This is part of a new condo complex under construction in the city next to the Village Butcher Shop and Milford Presbyterian Church. Restaurants like The Burger Joint, Main Street Grill & Tavern and Pettibone are nearby.
The team has been teasing the new location with photos of the inside and construction updates. For more information on the ice cream company, visit their Instagram @sedos_ice_cream.
