One of Memphis’s best barbecue joints is preparing to bring the heat to the Germantown dining scene. Bain Barbecue is opening its highly anticipated second location in the neighborhood, and locals will be able to dig into the restaurant’s incredibly popular cuisine this summer, reports the Memphis Business Journal.

Partners in life and barbecue, Heather and Bryant Bain, announced the new storefront via a joyful and whimsical social media post in front of the concept’s planned upcoming space. The duo did not specify the address of Bain’s Germantown home, however eagle-eyed viewers were able to deduce that the Bains were in front of a vacant Arby’s. The latter chain shuttered its 2016 S. Germantown Road restaurant in October and comments on the Bain’s announcement post suggest locals are more than excited to see the storefront bustling with life and flavor again.

The Bryants, alongside business partner Ryan Glosson, intend to have Bain Germantown open and ready for guests by July-prime barbecue season.

Bain first entered the hearts and stomachs of Memphis diners as a food truck in 2021. The mobile restaurant quickly earned the devotion of a dedicated fanbase and attention from no less than TIME Magazine. The Bains and Glosson made the leap to brick-and-mortar in 2022, when they opened the first Bain Barbecue and Bakery at 993 S. Cooper Street.

Glosson explains that-like all things related to Bain Barbecue-decisions about the second location were deliberate and made with care. He says: “For the past 18 months or so, we’ve been thinking, ‘Financially, it’s making sense to do a second Bain Barbecue. We’ve been really, really picky since [about the location]. This location checked all the boxes.”

Despite being a younger concept, Bain has quickly become a Memphis institution, thanks to its commitment to superior customer service and painstakingly prepared authentic barbecue. The website explains: “At Bain Barbecue, we do things the hard way — because it’s the right way. Our meats are smoked over a real wood-burning pit for hours, seasoned with hand-crafted rubs, and carved fresh. From sliced brisket and pork ribs to Texas Twinkies and smoked turkey, everything on our menu is bold, honest, and unforgettable.”
