“If you don’t quit, you will win!” says Thea Jeffers, Owner and Founder of T-works Interior Decorating and Breezy Jazz House & Restaurant. Jeffers launched Breezy Jazz Club at 119 W Adams St. back in 2016. As its journey has continued, Breezy has since moved on to 1402 San Marco Blvd—and now it’s preparing for a new chapter. According to the Jacksonville Daily Record, Breezy is planning to relocate back downtown, at 337 E Bay St.
“Jacksonville has had venues that play jazz or have jazz bands, but its never really had a true Jazz House, until Breezy,” says the Breezy website. “Jeffers was exposed to the smooth rhythms and harmonies of jazz as a preteen, at the Riverfront in Philadelphia. Thea Jeffers has been married for 34 years, to husband Bernett Jeffers, with whom she traveled the world experiencing all that jazz music had to offer. The Jeffers Duo went to cities across the US and countries across the globe, to expand their knowledge of jazz sounds, types, and variations to fully appreciate the art form. While in London, Thea decided she wanted to own her own jazz house one day. She was 30 at the time. 20 years in the making, Jeffers opened Breezy Jazz Club, housing some of Jacksonville’s best local talents, and national, award-winning artists.”
In addition to hosting award winning artists, Breezy also serves up food drink, with a menu featuring Starters like Rhythm & Blue Crab Cakes and a Charcuterie Board. Entrees include the Blue Note Burger (House choice beef blend grilled-to-order, topped with Wisconsin cheddar, grilled onion, tomato and lettuce, served with crisp French fries), the Breezy Deluxe Seafood Platter (Fresh locally sourced shrimp, fried fish, crisp French fries, accompanied by hushpuppies and Breezy house made slaw), and Ray’s Crispy Wings Platter, served with sauces like Lemon Pepper, Jamaican Jerk, and Spicy Buffalo.
And of course, no jazz house would be complete without beer, wine, and specialty cocktails!
Launching in the East Bay Street location, Breezy will join a restaurant and entertainment community that includes Live Bar Seafood, Lettuce Eat 1, Keane’s Tavern, and Cinco de Mayo Authentic Mexican Restaurant.
