A new restaurant concept called Black Box Cafe will join Pittsburgh Yards at 352 University Ave. SW, with plans to construct a 320-square-foot shipping container in the space, according to a permit filing.
Anthony Wilkes, the founder of the Logan Wilkes Foundation, is listed as the owner for the project. The Logan Wilkes Foundation aims to help K-12 students through programs that build health, wellness and workforce skills. The permit indicates that the foundation will be associated with the cafe.
For now, details regarding the menu, concept and opening timeline remain scarce. Wilkes declined to comment further on the concept at this time but plans to share more information in the spring once the project develops further.
Pittsburgh Yards offers office and coworking spaces in addition to its Container Courtyard, which is designed to act as a small business incubator for budding entrepreneurs. Plant-based ice cream shop The Creamy Spot joined the Container Courtyard last year.
