Cantina Contramar Set to Redefine Mexican Dining in Las Vegas

Internationally acclaimed chef Gabriela Cámara is set to debut a premier Mexican destination in Las Vegas. Bringing her Contramar magic all the way from Mexico City, the new restaurant features some of Mexico’s most influential creative voices. From world-renowned architect to maestra tequilera, Cantina Contramar is a destination unlike any other.
Opening on March 28, 2026, Cantina Contramar is set to elevate the Strip’s culinary landscape. Blending Mexican cuisine, beverage, and design, it reflects an iconic collaboration. The restaurant will open on the Las Vegas Strip at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas.
With the opening, chef Cámara will also mark the next extension of the iconic 27-year-old Contramar brand. She weaves her iconic seafood dining with new creations that twist Mexican classics, exploring a vast landscape of Mexican flavors. Complementing these flavors is the selection of custom cocktails and tequilas from Maestra Tequilera Bertha González Nieves.
Architectural Design by Frida Escobedo

Cantina Contramar marks world-renowned architect Frida Escobedo’s first restaurant project in the U.S. Escobedo’s designs include the new Modern and Contemporary Art Wing for The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Doha, Qatar, and the renovation of the Centre Pompidou as co-designer.
Escobedo designed the restaurant with inspirations from traditional Mexican cantinas, featuring a bright, expansive space. It embodies a place that welcomes everyone and includes an open kitchen, a comal station, and a bar.
