Artisan Bakery and Cafe is planning a second location in Medford, according to a liquor license application filed with the city. The upcoming bakery is set to open on 1251 E McAndrews Rd. in a space that was formerly Wayback Burgers.
Artisan Bakery and Cafe was founded in 2004 by Scott Brechel, who sold the cafe to McKay and Jamie Lawson in August 2022. While the first location on 1325 Center Dr. is located on the outskirts of Medford, the new location is located closer to the heart of the city.
Artisan offers a wide variety of fresh-baked European-style pastries, like bear claws, cinnamon croissant twists and loaf cakes. It also offers seasonal goods, currently offering jam-filled beignets, red velvet bistro cake and infinitely flakey cherry turnovers. Easily influenced individuals should avert theirs eyes. “We believe that baking is an art form, and we strive to create special delights that not only taste incredible but also look beautiful,” Artisan’s website says.
Artisan Bakery and Cafe is in the demolition phase of its new location. The cafe does not have an opening date as of yet.
