This spring, a new food truck will set up shop in Jacksonville at 2056 Emerson St, serving up country-style soul food favorites. It’s called Soul Out Kitchen, and it’s working toward a launch this April.

“It’s going to be country-style soul food,” Edward, a co-owner in the project, told What Now on Friday. “On the south side, we don’t really have any soul food and country food. This is a new venture.”

On the menu, you can expect to find favorites like fried chicken, pork chops, fish, BBQ ribs, and burgers and fries, together with classic sides like collard greens, potato salad, baked beans, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, corn, and more. There will be lemonade, sweet tea, and other soft drinks to complete the picture.

For Edward, Soul Out Kitchen represents a return to the restaurant business.

“I had a restaurant about 15 years ago, a brick-and-mortar,” he said. “This time, I wanted to something more mobile, and less expensive.”

The projected opening date is April 1, so keep an eye out for Soul Out Kitchen!
