​T.G.S. Transportation, Inc has entered bankruptcy proceedings. The drayage trucking company, with more than 40 years of experience, has taken this step following the permanent shutdown of its operations in July 2025.​

T.G.S. Transportation, Inc Voluntarily Files for Chapter 7

​T.G.S. Transportation, Inc submitted a voluntary bankruptcy petition on February 13 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of California, latest PACER data shows. The Fresno-based trucking company made a Chapter 7 filing, which is generally used to liquidate assets, not restructure the business.​

Peter Schneider, the President and CFO at T.G.S. Transportation, Inc, was authorized to file the petition on behalf of the company. Attorney Peter Fear of Fear Waddell, P.C., is representing the trucking company in court.​

Permanent Closure Precedes Bankruptcy

​On July 31, 2025, Peter Schneider announced through a LinkedIn post that T.G.S. Transportation, Inc was closing permanently after 40 years of business. Peter Schneider cited ‘challenging market conditions’ as the main reason for the company’s closure.

T.G.S. Transportation, Inc was founded on May 1, 1985, by Timothy G. Schneider. The company launched as a small startup and was formally incorporated within six months of opening its doors.​

In 1987, Schneider secured a site for the company’s headquarters, creating a permanent home for its operations. His son, Peter Schneider, took up a leadership role in 1993 by joining the company full-time. In the same year, T.G.S. Transportation, Inc adopted the slogan “The Service You’ve Come to Depend On.”

The Fresno company offered international and domestic drayage, LCL shipping, and intermodal transportation.
