Coffees and matchas are being brewed at a new cafe coming to the northern suburb.
A new coffee shop and matcha bar called Kyuu Cafe is being teased on social media, coming to 47051 Van Dyke Avenue in Shelby Township. Co-owner Martin Yono told What Now Detroit he is hoping to have a soft opening in mid-to-late March.
The name is pronounced “Q” and means 9 in Japanese. The exact menu has not been released, but specialty matchas and coffees will be made in-house. One of the brews teased on their social media features a cold brew with cream and ice on top.
Kyuu Cafe is already involved in the community, serving at businesses like BC Pilates in the township. Right now, the team is hiring for various positions including full and part-time baristas. Their most recent post teased that the opening was approaching, describing the concept as a “matcha bar.”
“We can’t wait to welcome you soon,” says the post.
Yono is bringing the new cafe with locals Fadi Elisha and Rivert Dali. If all goes well, they will be able to host a soft opening next month. Right now, the team is working through inspections.
The cafe is being built near the intersection of 21 Mile Road. It will join other cafes and coffee shops at the intersections such as Tropical Smoothie Cafe and Tim Hortons. A Subway location is also in the plaza.
More information on the opening date will be revealed on the business’s Instagram page.
