The state-wide chain known for having beer on tap and award-winning food is coming to one of Michigan’s largest malls.
From a recent announcement, Hopcat is opening their 12th Michigan location at the Great Lakes Crossing outlets, 4390 Baldwin Road in Auburn Hills. The space designed to accommodate around 300 guests will be near entry 6 of the mall, close to the AMC Star Theater. An opening date has not been announced, but it will debut sometime this summer.
CEO of Project Barfly which owns Hopcat Craig Stage has been building the brand since he took over the chain last year. Originally from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, he has been involved in the company, managing locations for over 10 years. Since taking on this new role, he has been eying expansion in areas of metro Detroit.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to open our doors to our 12th Michigan location,” Stage said in a press release. “We’re excited to bring our love for craft beer and comfort food to the Great Lakes Crossing Outlets and create a space where everyone feels welcome. We can’t wait to meet our neighbors, share great moments, and become a go-to spot in Auburn Hills.”
Locations are spread all across the state, including Ann Arbor, Beltline, Detroit, East Lansing, Grand Rapids, Holland, Kalamazoo, Lincoln, Nebraska, Livonia, Royal Oak, Partridge Creek and Southgate. The Southgate location at 15231 Trenton Road was one of the most recent openings from the company, per a report from What Now Detroit in February last year. There is no word on any additional locations opening as of now.
While beers from many Michigan-based breweries are on tap at Hopcat, food options range from shareables like nachos, to wings to burgers. The cosmic fries are popular, which are beer-battered fries, also available as a loaded option with cheese sauce, bacon, onions and pickled jalapenos. Wraps, soups, salads and bowls are also offered at locations.
