A new sushi spot may soon be rolling into Elk Grove.
Kai Japanese Cuisine has filed paperwork with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control to open at 9261 Laguna Springs Dr, Suite 150. The address is currently home to Hello Temaki, and it remains unclear whether that concept will close, relocate, or rebrand as part of the transition.
Husband-and-wife team Jing and Rong Chen confirmed they are behind the forthcoming restaurant, though they noted the project is still in the early stages of development. While details remain limited, the couple shared that Kai Japanese Cuisine will center on sushi.
If all goes according to plan, guests can likely expect a lineup of Japanese staples such as nigiri and sashimi, specialty rolls, hand rolls, and classic appetizers like gyoza and tempura. Bento boxes, teriyaki plates, and miso soup are also typical offerings at sushi-forward concepts.
An official opening timeline has not been announced, but Kai Japanese Cuisine is targeting a debut within the next few months. The restaurant does not yet have a website or social media presence, so stay tuned for updates as the project progresses.
