A new bar is coming to Baton Rouge, according to a construction permit filing with the city. The permit was filed by Joshua Duke, the owner of acclaimed bar Olive or Twist, for a space on 3753 Perkins Rd. The space formerly held Uncle Earl’s, which closed in mid-January 2026.

The upcoming bar from Duke will be called Truce and Chaos, first reported by The Acadiana Advocate. According to the bar’s website, Truce and Chaos describes the two opposing forces guiding the cocktail bar. On one side, truce represents the sense to enjoy the finer things in life, like a good conversation. The chaos, that’s the party, my guy.

“We designed this space for those who appreciate elevated cocktails and good company but still know how to have fun when the lights dim and the music turns up,” the website reads.

Truce and Chaos does not have an opening date as of yet. Simply, “Come early for the conversation. Stay late for the chaos.”
