A new tea house and mercantile, Sojourn Tea Shop, is opening in Downtown Lafayette, first reported by Developing Lafayette. Sojourn is opening on 118 W Vermillion St.
Sojourn Tea Shop is owned by Julia Bonaventure. She tells The Acadiana Advocate that she noticed a lack of tea shops in Lafayette and decided to open an outlet for quality teas after getting laid off from a corporate human resources firm in September of last year.
In addition to a seasonal selection of teas, Sojourn will serve a few snacks, selected to pair well with tea. If you simply must have coffee, Sojourn will have a small coffee menu. However, the focus is really on the tea. Sojourn is designed as an in-person experience, offering a diverse assortment of green teas, oolongs, black teas, white teas, pu-erh, and herbal infusions sourced from around the world.
The mercantile aspect of Sojourn will focus on tea accessories, made to be aesthetic, but highly functional.
Sojourn Tea Shop will hold a soft opening on March 14 for Acadiana Center for the Arts’ 16th annual Lafayette Student Arts Expo.
