Soul food spot Annie’s Soul Delicious is bringing a new location to 3109 W. Rosecrans Ave. in Hawthorne this spring.
Owner Annalisa Mastroianni Johnson told What Now Los Angeles that she is partnering with Gene Roebuck, owner of Made Burgers in Lawndale and Gardena, in the venture.
This location will join an existing spot in Fairfax for Soul Delicious. The forthcoming spot in Hawthorne will offer solely takeout and delivery, a pivot from Johnson’s existing dine-in model. The menu will be similar to the Fairfax location, and Johnson hopes that they will be able to add some new dishes at the Hawthorne spot since they will not have to focus on a dining room.
Although the spot will function only for takeout, the lobby will be fun and inspired by Los Angeles street culture.
“I think people will be surprised when they walk in with all the details we’ve added,” Johnson said. “We will have our signature signature wall. It will be a warm and comfortable place to feel like home to people.”
Johnson said they will prioritize honing this new takeout and delivery model, working on minimizing wait times and ensuring consistency of quality. Eventually, she hopes to expand further. She also plans to launch a new ice cream brand with her son by the end of the year, designing ice cream flavors around soul foods.
