A coffee shop on the west side of the state will soon be a chain.
The owners of Rooster Joe Coffee recently announced their second coffee shop is opening at the old Versailles firehouse in the city’s downtown at 39 S Center Street. This is a partnership with local clothing company Made Apparel and will serve as a dual location. Demolition of the building began last week, so an opening date has not yet been announced.
“The first time we walked into this building, we knew it had something special about it. We’re excited to bring it back to life and create a place where people can grab a coffee, shop school and seasonal apparel, meet friends, and support local,” says the recent post from Rooster Joe.
Owners Michelle and Joe McClurg launched their concept in 2019 at 300 W Sycamore Street in Coldwater. It quickly became a favored spot for coffee and attracted customers from both Coldwater and beyond, including Versailles, which led to the McClurgs deciding to bring a second location to the city. When contacted, Joe and Michelle were not available for comment.
Menus offer seasonal drinks, most recently St. Patrick’s day brews like the Pot of Gold, an espresso with white chocolate, caramel, honey and milk. Staple lattes, espressos, hot and cold brews are offered, as well as pastries. The menu will likely stay the same for Versailles.
An exact address has not been confirmed, but it will be in downtown Versailles close to other restaurants along main street, including Silas Creative Kitchen and El Herradero Mexican Grill III. This will be one of the new coffee shops in the city. Versailles is less than a two hour drive west of Columbus.
As the team continues to build out the new Rooster Joe, they will provide more updates on their Instagram page.
