San Diego restaurant and sports bar Dirty Birds has taken a lease for a 3,039-square-foot ground-floor space at 200 Pine Avenue in downtown Long Beach, according to a release. It will join existing tenants including Agaves Kitchen & Tequila and Agaves Ultra Lounge at the address.

Dirty Birds originated in San Diego and now has five locations in that area. The spot, known for its chicken wings, has become a “home away from home” for sports fans. Other menu items include salads, burgers, sandwiches and craft beers.

Fred Holloman will be the franchisee for the Long Beach location. Holloman also has another location in the works in Oceanside.

The team is aiming for an opening later this year.

“We are excited to welcome Dirty Birds restaurant to 200 Pine — a visual landmark of Downtown Long Beach,” Paul Diamond, senior principal at The Bascom Group, said in the release. “They are a locally owned restaurant and sports bar, proudly serving some of the best wings in San Diego. They make serving the community their number one priority, both inside and outside of the restaurant.”
