Azul, a Mexican-inspired fast-casual restaurant chain, is getting ready to open a new location in Toronto at College Street in Little Italy.
The new College Street location is planned to open in Summer 2026, according to the company’s social media announcement. The restaurant will join Azul’s existing spots at First Canadian Place and Union Station, bringing the brand’s tacos, tortas, bowls, salads, and sides to a neighborhood setting rather than a commuter hub. Customers can expect grab-and-go Mexican dishes featuring slow-cooked proteins, specialty tacos, and desserts like tres leches cake.
Azul’s menu highlights include birria, chilorio, quesabirria tacos with consomme, and taquitos dorados, alongside vegetarian and vegan options. Drinks such as aguas frescas complement the offerings. The College Street location will follow the same fast-casual format, with an emphasis on freshness and bold flavors prepared from scratch.
Founded by Chef Joao Medina, Azul emphasizes slow-cooked proteins, house-made sauces, and quality ingredients sourced locally when possible. The brand combines traditional Mexican techniques with modern presentations to create approachable, flavorful meals suitable for quick dining or takeout.
Little Italy was chosen as the new location for its community-focused environment and vibrant streetscape, which differ from the chain’s previous office and transit-centered locations. The restaurant is expected to integrate into the neighborhood while offering consistent service and menu items familiar to existing customers.
This will be Azul’s third Toronto location, expanding its presence in the city and providing more access to its signature fast-casual Mexican cuisine. Chef Medina and the Azul team aim to continue delivering quality, thoughtfully crafted meals with a focus on flavor, freshness, and a welcoming experience.
