A pair of accomplished restauranteers are working on a new project, certain to inspire enthusiasm and hunger in Del Ray diners. Matthew Sloan and Eric Brannon, the brains behind  Matt and Tony’s All Day Kitchen + Bar, are cooking up a new concept called Little Birdie and have filed the paperwork necessary to get the ball rolling, reports local media outlet ALXNow.

Sloan and Brannon have submitted a special use permit to turn the 1504B Mount Vernon Avenue space that previously housed Benny DiForza’s Pizza into their next great venture. The exact nature of Little Birdie remains a bit nebulous. However the special use permit filed with the City of Alexandria shows that the restaurant will be taking full advantage of the space and-in fact-expanding its potential by adding a 10-seat outdoor dining area.

Beyond this basic logistic element-and, of course, the restaurant’s pedigree-not much is known about the concept. Guests will be able to explore the full extent of Little Birdie’s cuisine and atmosphere once it opens between the hours of 8 am and 10 pm, Sundays through Thursdays and 8 am to 11 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

Sloan and Brannon have rightly earned great confidence from DMV foodies. The duo launched Matt and Tony’s All Day Kitchen + Bar in 2022 which has earned considerable acclaim since that auspicious debut. Little Birdie promises to continue the pair’s hot streak. What Now DC has reached out to ownership for further information and will update readers as details become available.
